• The Human Face

For years I have struggled with the human face! It is one of those make or break features that MUST be done correctly for your drawing to look polished and realistic (hands too, but thats another story for another time, kids!).

One thing I have found to be helpful is breaking it down into simple shapes and proportions.

First, be sure to study your subject, not all faces are the same, there are many shapes, sizes, and proportions that make up our unique mugs.

Second, draw what will basically look like an upside-down egg.

Third, based on your study of the subject, start to make relations to the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and eyebrows like what is pictured above.

From there, start to add in the features, you may not get it perfect the first time, but if you play around with spacing and relationships you will get it!

    Finally, play around with expressions!
